Public Awareness and Communications Programme


Mayo County Council has several Waste Water Discharge Licenses issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is a condition of the Waste Water Discharge Licences that a Public Awareness & Communications Programme be set up. This is to advise the public of the availability of the licence information for public inspection.

This programme is a summary listing of all the licensed plants detailing:

  • the locations/offices that the Public Awareness File can be viewed
  • the opening hours/times for public viewing of the file

Mayo County Council Waste Water Schemes


Mayo County Council has a number of Waste Water Facilities throughout the County. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) oversees the discharges from these facilities through the issuing of Licences and Certificates of Authorisation.  Licences are required for larger discharges and Certificates of Authorisation are required for smaller discharges.

By December 2009, Mayo County Council had applied for 33 Licences and 12 Certificates of Authorisation. Below is a breakdown of Licence & Certificate of Authoriation applications, submitted to the EPA, grouped by the Area Office responsible.
