Resolved:-

"That "Standing Orders" be suspended in order to allow discussion on the decision made by An Bord Pleanala to refuse Planning Permission for a Gas Terminal at Bellanaboy, Belmullet".

A detailed discussion took place during which a number of Councillors expressed their disappointment at the decision made by an Bord Pleanala.

It was felt that the decision would have very serious consequences for the future development of Mayo’s infrastructure and industrial sector.

TO CONSIDER REPORT DTED 24th APRIL, 2003, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PART 8 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT) REGULATIONS, 2001, AND THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 2001, IN RESPECT OF PROPOSED EXTENSION TO BURIAL GROUND AT BALLA.

TO CONSIDER REPORT DATED 1st MAY, 2003, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PART 8 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT) REGULATIONS, 2001, AND THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 2001, IN RESPECT OF PROPOSED NEW SWIMMING POOL AT DALTON STREET, CLAREMORRIS.

"That we hereby adopt Report dated 1st May, 2003, in accordance with Part 8 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Regulations, 2001, and the Local Government Act, 2001, in respect of proposed new

Swimming Pool at Dalton Street, Claremorris".

Cllr. B. Cooper-Flynn, T.D., queried the current position regarding Castlebar Swimming Pool and asked that an Item be placed on the Agenda

for the next Meeting of Castlebar Electoral Area Committee in connection with same.

ITEM NO. 5.

TO CONSIDER LETTER DATED 23rd APRIL, 2003, RECEIVED FROM ROSCOMMON COUNTY COUNCIL REGARDING CLASSIFICATION OF ROADS N60 AND N61.

"That this Council agree to seek a Deputation, inclusive of colleagues from Roscommon County Council, with the Minister for Transport to discuss the reclassification of Roads N60 and N61 as National Primary routes".

"Calling on Mayo County Council to immediately appoint an

Archivist to the Council in order to protect the heritage of the

County".

(c) "That the County Manager would give full details of the following:-

1. The total cost of public liability insurance to Mayo County

Council for the year 2002;

2. The total number of claims to date for the year 2002;

3. Did any of the claims prove fraudulent?".

(d) "To ask the County Manager what action Mayo Co. Council intends

to take on owners of derelict sites within the County and in

particular Ballinrobe, given the fact that a Register of such sites and

title to them has been compiled".
