MINUTES OF MAYO COUNTY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, 5th SEPTEMBER, 2005, AT 9.30 a.m.

TO CONSIDER DRAFT LOCAL AREA PLAN FOR WESTPORT ENVIRONS AND MANAGER’S REPORT ON SUBMISSIONS RECEIVED IN RESPECT OF DRAFT LOCAL AREA PLAN FOR WESTPORT ENVIRONS, ROMAN ISLAND AND SOUTH WESTPORT AND PROPOSED AMENDMENTS.

 

The County Manager informed the Council that a Special Meeting had been requested to discuss the proposed amendments to the Westport Environs Area Plan.

 

The amended Draft Plan was circulated to the Elected Members on the 26th July, 2005.

 

Mr. P. Hynes, Dir. of Services, informed the Meeting that in order to comply with the Planning and Development Act, 2000, it was necessary to discuss the proposed amendments before the 6th September, 2005.   He then outlined the amendments discussed at the Westport Electoral Area Committee Meeting held on 1st September, 2005.

The County Manager advised the Members that these amendments would be placed on public display.

 

The County Manager informed the Meeting that Roman Island comes under the jurisdiction of Westport Town Council.   Both Westport and Ballina Harbours are currently the subject of takeover discussions between the Harbour Commissioners and Mayo County Council.
