MINUTES OF MAYO COUNTY COUNCIL ADJOURNED MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, 24th SEPTEMBER, 2001, AT 5.30 p.m.

Resolved:-

"That the sympathy of the Council be extended to the Mayor of New York, Mr. Rudolph Giuliani, and to the relatives of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pittsburgh on the 11th September, 2001, and that the Meeting be adjourned at 6.30 p.m., as a mark of respect."

The County Manager, on his own behalf and on behalf of the staff, associated himself with the Vote of Sympathy passed.

Resolved:-

"That in light of the tragic loss of over 300 Firemen in the World Trade Centre in New York on the 11th September, 2001, that as a gesture of solidarity with the New York Fire Department, the Council send representatives from Mayo County Council Fire Authority to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2002."

ITEM NO. 1

TO ADOPT PLAN FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY OPERATIONS IN COUNTY MAYO.

Mr. S. Murphy, Chief Fire Officer, gave a Presentation on the Plan for Fire and Emergency Operations in County Mayo.

Resolved:-

"That this Item be deferred to the October Meeting of the Council."

TO CONSIDER REPORT ON CASTLEBAR ENVIRONS SEWERAGE SCHEME.

It was agreed to defer this Item to the October Meeting of the Council.

"That the sympathy of the Council be extended to Mr. Bertie McHugh and family, Garrymore, Claremorris, on the death of his Nephew, Denis, in New York."
